Ismail Haltas

Ismail is a senior research fellow in the School of Management at the University of Cranfield. He got his MS in 2004 from University of California, Davis on “Floodplain Modelling using Geographic Information Systems” and PhD Degree in 2006 from the same university on “Scaling of Governing Equations in Hydrology”. After completing his PhD, he has worked for Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC) in Sacramento/California Office as a water resources engineer for four years. At NHC he was mainly involved in flood modelling and mapping (FIRM, LOMR etc.) as well as watershed-based hydrologic modelling projects. He has the Professional Engineer License in Civil Engineering in California since 2010. Then he moved back to Turkey as an assistant professor of Civil Engineering Department at Zirve University in 2011. He has served as an assistant professor for two and half years and as an associate professor for three years in the same university. He has taught various undergraduate courses as well as graduate courses in Hydraulics, Hydrology, Water Resources and Engineering Statistics. Along with the teaching load, he also conducted as a principle investigator and participated as a researcher in various funded research projects (mainly flood hazard/risk modelling and mapping).

Ismail’s primary role on Stepping Up Project is developing the ABM models for the identified NEXUS case studies, also scaling up and scaling out the ABM models.
